Hello!
This is Victory A10 Day Cruiser.
The boat will soon appear in the real world, but for now I made some renders.
Model with heavy NURBS geometry, about 250 million triangles, which led to rendering problems and crashes. But I was able to achieve this result. What do you think?
GPU Mode.
NVIDIA RTX A4000
64gb RAM Memory
HDRI map 16k plus physical lights
Ocean surface is just displacement map (fractal noise), in some places you can notice artefacts
Sorry if I uploaded the renders a bit chaotically. I hope you appreciate my work, I will be glad to hear any criticism. I would also like the developers of keyshot to do something with the water shader, sometimes it is simply impossible to achieve the desired effect with the glass shader, because it incorrectly refracts the details of the boat or engine in the water.
Thank you!
Really nice renders! In some the water looks a bit ‘dull’ but I’m not sure if that’s because it’s out of focus or not. I’ve the feeling a bit with the bird-view close-ups. Think it might improve if you would apply an unsharp mask to the water to make it more ‘sparkling’. If it is DOF I would remove it.
These have me wanting to go on vacation, @ser.more! Noted about the water shader. Might be a good thing to post in the Product Feedback/Ideas category so other users can vote on your idea & give it some visibility!
I actually tried to just use the unsharp mask filter in Photoshop but the result wasn’t great, think it’s just a bit to unsharp for it. Then I tried to select the ocean and do generative fill, well… it sure looked different.
And not sure why but the ones with the sunset are also a bit unsharp but for me that water does looks very realistic to me.
Just now see you have some artifacts with the displacement, did you use an uncompressed 32-bit image, think that does help with a displacement like this where you also cover a large surface.
Not a bad result for the default fractal noise I think. I’ve like countless textures since I’m a digital hamster. Just not sure if I have any textures which would fit well as ocean water. If I’ll find something usable I’ll let you know. Would be interesting to see if a texture would give a better result than a noise generator.
Very clean looking. For me, versions where waves break straight water line on hull looks more realistic. Same about waves reflections on bottom part of hull. In best possible case there also must be seen light reflections from water surface, but not sure if Keyshot can properly handle it.
In the test I did that worked actually pretty well if you use sun/sky as environment. So to achieve it I think you need a lot of light, same with the caustics on the sea floor. With an HDRI it’s harder I think.
The boat looks great – both the design and the render. But what surprises me the most is the water. Even the imperfections the author mentions have their own charm – after all, it’s water.
Nice details, I think adding some depth of field in the camera will go well to add perspective and scale to the image, and materials seem too clean. The soft furniture seems hard, needs a texture of folds or creases just to make it look natural.
Great project! The materials appear a bit too clean adding subtle wear or variation could improve realism. To enhance the image further, consider adding depth of field to the camera for better perspective and scale.
